Nestled in the hills of Valley Center, California, you’ll find Willow Creek Ranch, a private and romantic wedding venue.  In the fading afternoon light, San Diego-based event planning company, Forever Enchanted Events, created a scene right out of a fairytale. And every detail is simply magical.

Meet Jessica & Andrew

There is truly nothing we love more than a classic fairytale and a “happily after after,” but we noticed that black women and interracial couples are underrepresented in the fairytale narrative of modern-day weddings. We rarely see black princesses in media in general, let alone one rocking her natural hair and being head-over-heels in love with a partner of a different ethnicity. THIS is what modern-day fairytales look like, and we want to share it with the world.

Our bride, Jessica, was a vision from start to finish with her gorgeous curls and stunning smile. Her prep look included a custom satin robe by Arenlace Bridal Boutique with “bride” across the back in gold foil lettering to make her special day even more special. Jamielyn Craft Photography also snagged some shots of the bride-to-be wearing an adorable light pink t-shirt and later jean jacket that read, “Happily Ever After!”

Jessica truly stunned in a white strapless gown by designer, Jaime Elyse, with an incredibly detailed beaded bodice and tulle skirt–fit for a princess!

No bride is complete without her bouquet, and the fuchsia, cream, and rosy blooms designed by Gaslamp Florals, the in-house floral designer for  Forever Enchanted Events, had our bride blushing. This bouquet was absolutely swoon-worthy, just like our groom!

Our princess was met by her prince charming, Andrew. (Check out that smolder!) Andrew was outfitted in a deep blue tux from Friar Tux, with a tie to match. His boutonniere, the final touch to complete his ensemble, featured a combination of spray rose blossoms interspersed with hints of green and burgundy.  Simple and sweet, his smile does all the talking. Truly a charmer, Andrew looks like a prince straight from a Hallmark Channel romantic comedy. So handsome!

This enchanting dessert bar wowed everyone! The desserts are displayed on unique pieces like crystal cake platters, glass apothecary jars, and a cupcake ferris wheel. Kelsey Schwarz, the owner of Forever Enchanted Events, loves to add magical little details and hidden items in our dessert tables. She embellished this display with fairy lights, a tiny golden moose, keys to a fairytale castle, and a cameo photo of her chihuahua son, Dalton.

The antique buffet is opened and filled with delicious treats like Petite Astoria’s multi-flavored mini cupcakes, strawberry crème naked cake bars, white chocolate-covered popcorn, and strawberry mousse cups. The lace table runner and elevated marble cake stand add an air of sophistication to the gathering, while the pinks and creams that adorn the mini-cupcakes, animal cookies, and strawberry concoctions sweeten the romance.

The table and centerpiece continue the romantic theme with the same pink and golden tones found throughout the event, including scalloped chargers, gold-rimmed glassware, and gold flatware engraved with a floral pattern, provided by Hostess Haven–just a few of the intricate details that Forever Enchanted Events uses to make your fairytale wedding a reality! A full floral centerpiece crowns the table in a gold compote vase and features the most stunning light pink roses- the fairest of them all! And just to make the bride feel extra-special on her big day, we surprised her by adding strings of pearls to her chair!

Willow Creek Ranch has a stunning lily pond just to the left of the ceremony space that reminded us of Disney’s “Princess and the Frog,” movie, which is extremely fitting considering the film introduced the franchise’s first black princess! (Luckily Jessica didn’t have to kiss any frogs to find her prince though!)

We wanted to create a cozy, intimate space for the blissful couple. Our lounge vignette let our lovers cuddle up and soak in their special day! Candlelight illuminated stacks of antique books and throw pillows placed around the vintage chairs that lent an eclectic, old-world flair to the tree-covered nook. Everything about the scene drips with romance, from the pink, French-provincial sofa to the delicate chandelier casting a dreamy, moon-like glow over the perfect place for stealing kisses.

We are celebrating what modern love looks like in fairytales and thus, joining the campaign to “change the wedding industry” (#changetheweddingindustry) by expanding depictions of love in the wedding industry. We strongly believe that love doesn’t have to conform to outdated standards and stereotypes, that every love story is magical, and that each one deserves to be celebrated.
